The Lagos State Government has reiterated its dedication to advancing cultural tourism, celebrating ethnic diversity, and nurturing youth creative talents in alignment with the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Development Agenda of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
This commitment was highlighted when the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Idris Aregbe, hosted three distinct delegations in his office at Alausa, Ikeja, to explore strategic partnerships aimed at strengthening the state’s status as a premier hub for arts and culture.
The first delegation, representing Eko Arts and Culture and led by Pioneer Inem Couture alongside Producer Lanre Muritala, formally invited the ministry to the maiden edition of the “Eko Arts and Culture Experience.”

Scheduled for December 2026, the cultural fashion event is designed to celebrate the heritage of Lagos through fashion, musical performances, theatre, and awards.
The gathering, expected to draw roughly 1,000 guests, will spotlight Yoruba, Hausa, and Igbo traditions, reflecting the state’s identity as a commercial crossroads and a melting pot of diverse ethnicities.
Aregbe lauded the initiative as a timely and meaningful expression of the Lagos identity. Highlighting the value of celebrating multi-ethnic traditions through fashion and culture, he pledged the ministry’s support to ensure the event’s success.
The second delegation, comprising the leadership of the International Dance Festival, Artistic Director Sunday Ezegbe and Festival Manager Agnes Olayemi, briefed the Special Adviser on their upcoming two-week festival running from September 14 to 27, 2026.
The global event is projected to draw participants from over 40 countries, featuring intensive dance workshops, training sessions, music showcases, and cross-cultural exchange activities.

Aregbe welcomed the initiative, affirming the state’s preparedness to host international programs that project its rich cultural profile, foster global ties, and stimulate the creative economy.
In the final engagement, the Nigerian Children Cultural Heritage delegation, headed by Oluwakemi Fanimokun, paid an appreciation visit following the successful completion of the Surulere Children Art and Craft Workshop, an initiative designed to cultivate youthful creative expression.
As a token of gratitude, the team presented the Special Adviser with an artwork produced by the young participants during the program.
